Ah Poong

Last Saturday, me and David were having an impromptu trip to Bogor. We were actually planning to have our valentine's date, since we didn't have a proper one on the 14th, but we're not in the mood for fancy restaurants and movie date, so we just thought, why don't we go to Bogor? I've been wanting to try Ah Poong in Sentul City since I read the review on Wanderbites

Ah Poong is actually the newest branch of Eat&Eat, located in the riverside of Sentul City. To go there, take the second Sentul Exit from tol Jagorawi (Sentul Selatan Exit), not the first one. We almost got lost by taking the first Sentul Exit.

We arrived at Ah Poong at lunch time, and the place were so crowded. It's hard to find the parking lot, and it's even harder to find an empty table. We decided to walk slowly, take a look of the choices of food, as we're looking for the empty table. The is divided into two parts, the first is selling authentic Indonesian Food, and the second part is for Peranakan Food. Other than food, they also have a little 'floating maket' selling fruits in the boat, and they rented the boat to the guests, with no minimum charge. You can pay as much or as cheap as you want for renting the boat.

From the wide selection of food, here's what we chose:

Martabak Kubang (IDR 29.000)
Martabak Kubang is a kind of Peranakan Food which mixes the Padang and Indian spices into the fillings of the martabak. The spice blended very well in the mouth, along with the eggs, beef, and the crispy skin of the martabak. Love it.

Nasi Bakar Ayam (IDR 32.000)
This was also good. The rice is filled with spicy shredded chicken, and then grilled inside the banana leaf, creating nice aroma when you eat it. But the fritters that comes with it is a little dissapointment. It's cold and chewy. Euw.

Tahu Telor (IDR 22.000)
Tahu Telor has never been my favourite, but always been David's. Tried it a little and it was okay. The egg is crispy on the outside, and the bumbu kacang (nut seasoning) was also okay.

Overall, I think this less than IDR 100.000 lunch date is much more worthy than our usual fancy restaurant's date. Go and try yourself :D

Holycow! Steakhouse

Holycow steak is opening their branch at Kebon Jeruk. Yay!

I've been meaning to try this place since a long time ago, but it never happened since I rarely go to Senopati and Kelapa Gading area. But several days ago, David heard from his officemates that holycow steak is now opening their newest branch at Kebon Jeruk, so we wasted no time and tried it immediately.

We arrived there at 6.30 PM, yet the place were already packed with the carnivores that we have to share the table with other guests. We ordered the Australian Rib Eye Big Bites with BBQ sauce (IDR 105.000 for 400gr) and Potato Wedges (IDR 15.000). After fifteen minutes waiting, the waiter came to us and said that they're running out of potato wedges, so we changed it into Wagyu Meatballs with Mushroom Sauce (IDR 45.000).

The service were taking quite long. We waited more than 30 minutes for our rib eye, and the meatballs came long after we've finished our rib eye. But the place has just open for less than a week, so that was forgiven. And plus, the food was satisfying for us. The rib eye were perfectly grilled (we asked for medium well), and the seasoning's great. The meatballs turns out delicious too.

Each meal were served french fries and sauteed green bean. The sauteed green bean were also meet my tastebud, perfect saltiness and crunchiness. French fries were just okay, needs a little salt. As for the sauce, the mushroom sauce was recommended by the menu, and I love it since it creamy.

One thing I regret is that I was too late for the free misu. You can get free tiramisu from MiSu if you mention @steakholycow on twitter. I planned to have it for dessert, but I was too late. Maybe I should have it for appetizer next time.

La Finestra

La Finestra is an Italian restaurant located in the corner of Tribeca Park, Central Park Mall. I've been meaning to try it for a long time since it's located just down my office at APL tower, but never got the chance, until I bought their voucher from DisDus. So last week, me and David were having (a super rare) lunch together there.

The interior was nice and comfortable. It is designed as a garden terrace, I presume. They've got unfinished brick walls, windows, artificial vines on the ceiling, and lots of comfortable sofas. Upon arival, the customers are supposed to order in the cashier first, and then the waiter will give us a number to be placed on our table.

My DisDus Voucher consists 2 Appetizers, 1 Pasta, and 1 Pizza for IDR. 95.000. And here's what we had for our lunch:

Zuppa d'Funghi
Just an ordinary mushroom soup. Taste was fine, but I expected a slice of baguette to come with it.

BBQ Chicken Wings
I don't understand why David always got attracted by chicken wing as appetizer. In my opinion, they all taste  just the same as the fiesta chicken wing that you can buy in the supermarket. Just add bbq sauce. Just not my kind of appetizer.

Angel Pollo d'Funghi
There was 7 choices of pasta written on the voucher, but when we got there, the waiter said only 3 out of 7 were available. That was such a turn down. So we came with this, Angel hair pasta, served with salad, breaded chicken, and mushroom sauce. Overcooked pasta, pale chicken, but the mushroom sauce helped a little bit. Didn't touch the salad.

Meat Lovers Pizza
The most acceptable food in the entire lunch. Thin crusted pizza topped with beef, peperoni, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese. I like it that they use sliced beef instead of minced beef for the topping.

That was definitely not my best lunch, but that's just my opinion. Maybe anyone think different?

Marche

Marche is a Swiss-Italian restaurant located in Grand Indonesia and Plaza Senayan. The restaurant is designed based on the Switzerland fruit market. You can see lots of fresh fruits on the wooden counter, baskets hanging on the walls and ceilings, and barrels! Barrels everywhere.

The place is divided into 5 counters, if I'm not mistaken. There are Salad and Soup Counter, Swiss Main Course Counter, Italian Main Course Counter, Dessert and Rotisserie Counter, and Beverages Counter. We   can order the food at the counter, and the order will be noted on the card that were given to us upon arrival. This restaurant is really my weakness. All the food placed in the counter looks so good, and I want to try everything! Especially the desserts :9

But you know, our belly and wallet can't afford that much, so here's what we ordered:

Rosti with Bacon and Egg (IDR 57.000)
Honestly, I wasn't expect much from this dish at first. Rosti is a traditional Swiss food, made of grated potato as the main ingredient. I wasn't expect to taste a hint of creaminess in the perfectly cooked potatoes. And I wasn't expect the texture of the potatoes to be so rich, crunchy outside but soft and moist inside. That surprised me, and I fell for it right at my first bite.

Roasted Chicken Leg (IDR 39.000) with Mashed Potatoes (IDR 12.000)
It was also good. The chicken leg was big and tender, and the mashed potatoes was nice and creamy. Even David, who usually dislikes mashed potatoes, like it.

Beef Bacon and Cheese Pizza (IDR 45.000)
The pizza was good, but not extraordinary. They were quite generous on the topping, and you can take the parmesan cheese yourself, as much as you want, but for me, the pizza dough was too chewy.

Creme Brulee (IDR 22.000)
Perfect dessert to end our dinner. The texture was soft and moist, the taste was not too sweet, I think I shouldn't share it with David. I could eat the whole portion alone.

In conclusion (like if I haven't make it clear from my writings above), the restaurant satisfied me more than I expected, and surely I'll be their loyal customer.
