Hakata Ikkousha (Rumah Bahagia Pertama)

It's been almost a year since I saw the first review of this ramen place on Wanderbites, and the amount of good reviews from other blogs and friends is keep increasing, but I've never had the time to try it, since I rarely go to Muara Karang and Kelapa Gading. But last month, finally I tried the famous and legendary Hakata Ikkousha! And I just can't help to get addicted immediately.

So no needs for long words of preliminary, let's just go straight to the food!

Ramen Babi Special (38k)
This is what I ordered at my first visit. The thick broth, the soft boiled egg, and the texture of the noodles were really spoiling my tongue with pleasure and delicacy.

 Ramen Babi Tam-Tam (46k)
On my second visit, I challenged myself to tasted the spicy one. I don't really like spicy food, but with all the people recommending this menu to me, I tried it. And it wasn't a disappointment. The broth is better with a little spiciness inside, and you also get minced pork for this item. So this becomes my new favourite.

Buta Chasiu Thick (58k)
This is one of their recommended side dish. It comes with two choice of sauce, sweet and salty. I prefer the sweet sauce myself. This also tasted excellent, the pork is thick, and the spice is good.

Overall, IMO, it is undeniable that Hakata Ikkousha's Ramen is the best I've ever tasted. But if there's one thing I'd like to complain, is the unstable pork meat. When you ordered the ramen, or the chasiu, sometimes you got all meat, but in the other times, you got a little meat and more lards. I can't eat pork lards, so it is somehow bothering me when the ramen (or the chasiu) is full of lards.

But still though, the best ramen place in town. Go try it!

Pad@28

Hello! It's been almost two months without blogging, again, blame my final project. But now it's all done! I'm a bachelor in architecture degree now. yay! I've got lots of food to review, but let's start with the one I ate yesterday, Pad@28.

I went there with my high school friends yesterday. When I first heard the name from a friend of mine, I thought we'll be eating Thai food, but I was totally wrong. They served western, italian, anything but Thai.

The restaurant takes place in a big house near SCBD Sudirman area, and as well as it's facade, the interior was also designed with a house concept, a living room to be more specific.  I love the comfy sofa, the big window with curtains, wood accent on the ceilings, lots of frames which were beautifully appointed on the wall, all of it feels so comfortable. There's only one thing I don't like from the restaurant, the smoking area, which is located in the first floor. That means every non smokers who want to eat there have to pass through the smoking area first before reaching their seat on the second floor. A bit unhealthy, isn't it?

Anyway, there were eight of us last night. We ordered eight main courses for each of us, ad also one appetizer and two desserts for sharing. I don't keep the bill, but the price for our main courses was ranging from IDR 60.000-120.000. I didn't taste all the food, so I will just reviewing what I ate last night.

Nachos
This was our appetizer last night. We actually ordered one more appetizer, but it didn't came out until the end of our meal, so we cancelled it. Anyway, the nachos was delicious. Everyone couldn't stop eating it until the last bite. Yum!

Wagyu Spaghetti Bolognese
This was my main course, its IDR 75.000. I was expecting something special because of the "wagyu" on the name, but it turns out that it tasted just like ordinary spaghetti bolognese. Good, but not special.

Lasagna

Seafood Paella

Pesto Fettuccine

Spaghetti Aglio Olio

Duck Confit

Baby Back Ribs

Tiramisu
This was the first dessert of the night. Presentation was cute and appetizing, but I don't like how it tasted. The coffee taste was too strong that it got so bitter. But my friend who is a coffee addict said it tasted good.

Chocolate Molten Cake
I don't know if this is because it came after that bitter tiramisu, or this cake really did tasted so delicious. The chocolate cake had the perfect sweetness, and also the combination of warm chocolate lava and the cold ice cream was seducing my tongue to eat more and more. This was a perfect dessert to end our meal last night.

Overall, I think Pad@28 has been succeeded in creating homey and comfortable interior that makes me wanted to came again someday, but the food selection on the menu was too ordinary and less in number. I hope they will added some more specialty on their menu soon :)

By the way, here's our picture at Pad@28 :)

White Box

It's been a month without writing, blame my final project class. It is consuming all of my strength and time that I've got no time to try new restaurant and write down the review. But hopefully, this final project thingy will be done next month, so be patient! I've listed a lot of food places to try on after all this done.

Anyway, earlier this month, me and David went to White Box Bistro and Cafe at Menteng for another monthsary. Again, we bought a voucher from Disdus, and used it this month, because it's nearly expired. The voucher was 2 Entree + 1 Appetizer for IDR 69.000.

We came at about 1 o'clock, and the restaurant was empty. Actually, the interior was kinda cute. It's basically white, with some soft wooden touch. And also, they placed cute things in the bar table, which I couldn't hesitate to take pictures of it.

And here's what we ordered that day:

Iced Lychee Tea (25k)
My Iced Lychee Tea came in cute Jar, while David's Lime squash (21k) came in ordinary glass, so I didn't take picture of it. My Iced Lychee Tea tasted kinda plain, you can see it from the pale colour. They should've put more tea in it.

Jerry's Favourite (28k)
We chose this for our appetizer. It's a deep fried mozzarella cheese with breadcrumbs. Tasted good actually, but the portion was really small.

Mom's Baked Beef Curry Rice (39k)
When it first came, I thought, "Where's the beef?" It looks like all rice and curry sauce, topped with mozzarella cheese and a little parsley right? But don't worry, the beef was actually inside this rice mountain, came in big slices and quite tender. The sauce kinda tasted like instant curry sauce, but overall, this dish was okay.

Gourmet Fried Noodle (38k)
This one was David's. I tried it, but didn't like it. The noodles were dry and tasted plain. The presentation was also not tempting. Not reccomended :(

By the way, I did say when we first came, the restaurant was empty, right? But about fifteen minutes after, there were a van full of Trans TV crew came in, with Arumi Bachsin. Maybe even though the food wasn't excellent, the cute interior made the TV station rented this place sometimes to do some shooting. I remembered not long ago, my friend also said that this restaurant was used for the "Stand Up Comedy" show too. :)
