KINTAN Japanese Yakiniku

Say hello to KINTAN, the newest Yakiniku Restaurant in Jakarta. Well Yakiniku is quite familiar in Jakarta. Probably everybody has known that Yakiniku is one of Japanese food, which main ingredient is sliced meat (could be beef, chicken, or seafood) dipped in Niku Tare Sauce, and grilled over fire using iron plate called "Ami". But not only that, KINTAN is also offering the new way to eat Yakiniku, just like how Japanese people do it in their country.

First, meet the sauces and side dishes. KINTAN's special sauce, the spicy sauce (top left) were sooo good! It's bursting with flavor but not overpowering the taste of the meat itself. Oh and for healthy and nice appetizer, go grab their Choregi Salad (IDR 38.000).

Surprised Hormone (IDR 59.000)
This one is one of KINTAN's specialty, and I bet you could hardly find something like this in the other Japanese Restaurants in Jakarta, because this is made of Cow's Intestine! Well I'm not usually an organ-eater, but I always excited to try new things you know, especially when it is the best seller item. Texture wise it was kinda chewy, slightly chewier than squid, I presume. The seasoning was rich and spicy, it blended well with the intestine itself.

Wagyu Sirloin (IDR 170.000)
Just looking at that gorgeous marbling, we could already know that they are using the best quality beef. The meat was so nice and tender. Definitely not to be missed when you are here.

Top 1 Manpuku Yakiniku Plate (IDR 268.000)
Another best seller item! One portion of Top 1 Manpuku Yakiniku Plate consists Kintan Jou Kalbi, Harami, Yaki Shabu Kalbi, Beef Tongue, and Rosu meat enough for 2-3 persons. All the meat were tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection.

I love everything they served that day, this place is definitely not to be missed if you love Japanese Yakiniku. Thank you BBlog and KINTAN for the delicate lunch!

Odysseia

After experiencing the not-so-nice service and ended up not having a table at PAUL (read about this on my previous post), we decided to have our lunch at Odysseia, which located just across PAUL in front of Galeries Lafayette. The place is divided into two areas. The smoking area is outside, decorated beautifully to look like a comfortable terrace, while the non smoking area is indoor, decorated a little too simple, to be compared with the outdoor area. It was past lunch time, only a few table were occupied, so we decided to sit in their beautiful outdoor area, which we regretted later because a couple sit right beside us and smoking non stop which looked like a nice place for girls day out.

The menu is mostly western, but they also serves some fusion menu between western and Indonesian cuisines. We decided to share these two main courses since we're still kinda full from eating panna cotta earlier.

Classic Grilled Salmon (IDR 155.000)
Thin crisped skin salmon served with mashed potatoes and dill butter sauce. Grilled salmon has always been everyone's comfort healthy meal. This one tasted decent, love the perfectly crisped salmon skin, but it's not the extraordinarily good one. Just nice and decent.

Wagyu Rendang Steak (IDR 145.000)
Diced wagyu beef topped with rendang sauce and fried shallots, served with fried rice, sunny side up, prawn crackers, melinjo chips, and acar. Unlike the salmon, I found this dish was probably one of the best nasi goreng dish I've ever had. Tender beef, rich and yummy rendang sauce, and delicious fried rice. More beef need to be added though, or you should call it nasi goreng wagyu, because this doesn't look like wagyu steak. Price is a little too steep for nasi goreng, but worth a try.

A very nice place to have a girls day out or maybe dinner date. Would surely come again for their fried rice, or maybe try the other menu.

Panna Cotta Etc

Merry Christmas everyone! How was your christmas? Mine was celebrated with my college besties at Pacific Place. At first we were going to have lunch at the newly opened PAUL at Galleries Lafayette, but as expected, we're already on the waiting list when we got there at twelve (PAUL didn't open for reservation). So we put our name and phone number on the waiting list -- the waiter said that they will SURELY call us when our table is ready -- and off we go to another new place in Pacific Place, Panna Cotta Etc. Dessert before lunch? No problem!

Located on the 4th floor just across Aksara, the outlet is simple and modern yet comfortable. They have 11 panna cotta variants to choose from and they also serve limited selections of main courses and beverages. And for this christmas season, they are serving two christmas special panna cotta, Toffee Nut and Gingerbread. Each panna cotta is sold at the price of IDR 30.000. We were kinda curious and hungry that time so we ordered 6 panna cotta variants for the four of us.

DELIGHT -- Tiramisu Panna Cotta with Coffee Sauce
SENSATION -- Cheese Panna Cotta with Raspberry Sauce

SEDUCTION -- Banana Panna Cotta with Hazelnut Choco Sauce
CELEBRATION -- Toffee Nut Panna Cotta with White Cream Sauce

INFATUATION -- Classic Panna Cotta with Butterscotch Sauce
ADDICTION -- Classic Panna Cotta with Baileys

From all 6 variants we tried, my favourite is definitely SENSATION (cheese with raspberry), followed by ADDICTION (baileys) and CELEBRATION (Toffee Nut). The cheese and raspberry was good and refreshing, really stood out compared with the other sweet panna cottas. I was expecting more from the butterscotch taste, but it tasted way too sweet for me. All panna cottas came in great smooth and silky texture, but slightly-too-small size.

Anyway, we were having our lovely dessert time here for about an hour, and then we went back to PAUL. And guess what, our name has been skipped on the waiting list and they didn't even give us a single call. So we asked if we could have a table in the outdoor area, and they said that the outdoor is only for take away. Such a waste of space and disappointing service. I ended up taking away their cakes and eat it at home. They were great, but still, PAUL needs a serious improvement on their service.

Y&Y

David and I are studying in the same university, same major, and now in the same class. We meet everyday, so usually our dates are only having meals after class, somewhere near. We rarely having saturday night date, because our house is not near, and we've already met everyday. So months ago, we decided that at least once a month in our monthsary date, we will have a proper date, going somewhere we rarely go, eat something new. So last weekend, me and David were having our monthsary date at Grand Indonesia.

So we watched Wrath of The Titans that day, which was surprisingly good for me. I've watched the prequel, Clash of The Titans before, but I had nothing crossed my memory about the movie, so I thought it was bad, and the sequel must be bad too. lol. But after watching Wrath of The Titans, I thought it was pretty good and worth watching, even though I feel wierd that God can dies in the movie *ups, spoiler alert*.

After watching movie, we had our early dinner at Y&Y. Located in 3A floor, the restaurant had a contrast white lighting, compared to the dim warm lighting in the surroundings. I've seen this restaurant lots of time before, but never set my step on it until last weekend. They've got a lot of sofa in the outside section, so we decided to sit there.

They've got various selection on the menu, there's Italian, Western, Chinese, Japanese, and also Indonesian. For me, they've got too much selection that I confused myself of what to choose. But finally, I chose Chicken Blackpepper (50k), while David picked Tempura Udon (75k). And we also shared a portion of Cheese Pizza (60k). Chinese, Japanese, and Italian, wierd combination, to think about it now.

My Chicken Blackpepper came in a big stone bowl that I doubted I could finished it myself. But I love the presentation, the color of  the blackpepper seasoned chicken, combined with the green, orange, and yellow color of the veggies. And when I tasted it, its delicious! The chicken was tender and seasoned well, and the veggie was fresh and crunchy. I don't know whether the stone bowl was actually not that big, or it was too delicious that I ended up finished it myself and still craving for more.

David's Tempura Udon also came in a big stone bowl. I did taste his dish, and the broth was quite nice. The prawn tempura was also good, although not as delicious as Ten Ten's.

The Cheese Pizza was kind of a turn down for me. It was too cheesy, and not crunchy. Eatable, but not satisfying.

Overall, the Blackpepper Chicken was the highlight of the day. I'd came back for it, and maybe tried their Pacific Place's outlet, who knows if the yacht's empty? :p
